About

Howdy ya’ll! Heather here! I recently moved to England from a small town in south Georgia, USA. A couple of people suggested that I create a blog to document the experience, so here I am! Ok, so one of those people was my mom, but she’s full of great ideas!

Forever intrigued with the bizarre, one of the first things I did after deciding to move to England was purchase the book Weird England by Matt Lake*. Highly recommended. I used the book as a basis to begin creating a list of obscure places I would like to visit, but instead of shrinking, the list only continues to grow with every new trip that I take.

I have created an interactive map using Google Maps so that I can view, at a glance, the weird places that I want to see. I use the map as a tool for planning road trips, or if I’ve travelled somewhere for another reason and have time to spare, I’ll check the map to see if there are any weird places in my vicinity. You can find a link to my map of Weird England in the Menu at the top right corner of each page, or you can just click here.

So sit back, relax, and join me on my quest for the quizzical!

Oh! And I promise not to dish out any “wanderlust” here, unless I’m serving it with a side of cynical sarcasm.

*If you live in the US, do yourself a favour and check out any of the other “Weird” books by Mark Moran and Mark Sceurman – executive editors of Weird England by Matt Lake. They have written books documenting the best of the bizarre in every state!
